At Digestive Disease Week, 2024 in Washington, DC.
I am a healthcare AI researcher at the Penn Computer Assisted Surgery and Outcomes Laboratory.
During my first two years of medical school, I was a research fellow at the Surgical Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital, a group focusing on the application of computer vision and other artificial intelligence (AI) to surgical video. My research was focused on patient and provider perceptions of AI.
I served as a clinical fellow at the Penn Computer Assisted Surgery and Outcomes (PCASO) Laboratory and have continued to do so. I lead the group’s qualitative arm, developing projects on digital literacy, digital knowledge, and digital skills in healthcare settings, particularly in relation to emerging AI tools. As AI has become an increasingly important topic in the healthcare space, this work will be increasingly important to ensure the safe, equitable, and efficient integration of AI tools in clinical environments.
In addition to this, I have served as a reviewer for several scientific publications. I have also served as a member of the program committee for the Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Society (MICCAI) conference clinical day.
